About SCPT Family

3 canoe families from the Sunshine Coast participated in 2011 PULLING TOGETHER on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. This annual event involves approximately 20 canoe families, or 300 participants, and community members en route. Pulling Together is a unique opportunity for the RCMP, First Nations People, Youth, and other government agencies to work together and build relations. Thank you for visiting our blog. We hope to update the blog regularly until we meet again in Pulling Together 2012. All my relations.

The SCPT Family Planning Session - July 6, 2011

One of the best things that I appreciate at Pulling Together are the CIRCLES.  The skippers use the circle for the skippers meeting.  Canoe crews or families also use circles to anticipate or reflect on each pull.  And, the Sunshine Coast Pulling Together (SCPT) Family uses the circle for sharing, informing, and planning.  Every Pulling Together, there is a talent show.  The participants of the talent show are brave and talented.  They will sing, dance, tell stories, or demonstrate a skill.  The SCPT could not help themselves but sign up for the talent show and PLAN (at the last minute) something special for the BIG event.  The purpose of circles is that it allows each person to be an equal contributor and is constructed so that everyone can be a part of the dialogical process.  Here are a few pics of the SCPT circle planning for the talent show.
