About SCPT Family

3 canoe families from the Sunshine Coast participated in 2011 PULLING TOGETHER on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. This annual event involves approximately 20 canoe families, or 300 participants, and community members en route. Pulling Together is a unique opportunity for the RCMP, First Nations People, Youth, and other government agencies to work together and build relations. Thank you for visiting our blog. We hope to update the blog regularly until we meet again in Pulling Together 2012. All my relations.

Protocol at Toquaht - July 4, 2011

After a 4 hour delay, the canoes finally arrived to Toquaht.  As a ground crew member, you get a different perspective of protocol (the formalities of arriving to shore).  That day, there was a helicopter hovering the canoes.  From shore, you can see in the horizon a PADDLES UP with the golden glimmer of the paddles.  The canoes disperse then one by one arrive to form a circle and reassemble to ask permission to come to shore.  Protocol was such a beautiful sight to see... it made me cry.  Welcome back paddlers.
