Another important member of the Pulling Together Family is the GROUND CREW. We have 3 committed ground crew mmembers in the Sunshine Coast Pulling Together Family: Val, Justin, and Margaret. Thank you, thank you, thank you. From Itatsoo to Toquaht three paddlers volunteered to help the ground crew. I was one of them along with my hero Joy and my new friend Pat. Although all 3 of us would have liked to been paddling, we all feel equally involved with our canoe family as groud crew. In fact, the ground crew experience was much like pulling: there is work to be done, timing matters, and we are working collaboratively towards a common goal. The best part about being on ground crew, similar to paddling, is BUILDING RELATIONS. I met so many people during my ground crew experience. You feel connected to others sharing the same "work" as you and you feel connected to you paddlers to create a camp for them. it's about care and kindness. It also involves a bit of forensic science, team work, and patience. Thank you ground crew form be a part of the Pulling Together family.
Traveling from Tofino to Ahousaht to Port Alberni from June 30th to July 8th.
About SCPT Family
- Sunshine Coast Pulling Together Canoe Journey 2011
- 3 canoe families from the Sunshine Coast participated in 2011 PULLING TOGETHER on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. This annual event involves approximately 20 canoe families, or 300 participants, and community members en route. Pulling Together is a unique opportunity for the RCMP, First Nations People, Youth, and other government agencies to work together and build relations. Thank you for visiting our blog. We hope to update the blog regularly until we meet again in Pulling Together 2012. All my relations.
