After a couple of hours of paddling, we stop at Opitsat. A beautiful beach... a bountiful of dogs... and free roaming cows... Opitsat was an enjoyable destination to meet community members, rest, have lunch, and enjoy the sun. The lunch was shipped in by boat (not canoe) and it was extremely delicious. Music playing inside the hall, community members serving us lunch, and some Pulling Together members pulling the canoes onto shore to prevent them from floating away with the tide during our visit. Thank you everyone... Best lunch ever.
Traveling from Tofino to Ahousaht to Port Alberni from June 30th to July 8th.
About SCPT Family
- Sunshine Coast Pulling Together Canoe Journey 2011
- 3 canoe families from the Sunshine Coast participated in 2011 PULLING TOGETHER on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. This annual event involves approximately 20 canoe families, or 300 participants, and community members en route. Pulling Together is a unique opportunity for the RCMP, First Nations People, Youth, and other government agencies to work together and build relations. Thank you for visiting our blog. We hope to update the blog regularly until we meet again in Pulling Together 2012. All my relations.
