The evening ended at the band hall with an awesome feast of salmon. Another apology for not getting a photo of this... experiencing some technical difficulties with my Blackberry... but the salmon was filleted and put on a stake to be roasted over an open fire. Amazing! The dinner was delicious and loved how the community and Pulling Together Families unite in one place to celebrate, share, and connect with one another. The evening ends with "the work," that is, the many THANK YOUS who made this event happen. Boyd from the Port Alberni RCMP and his wife Monica deserve many thank yous along with the organizing team and Pulling Together Committee. Other thank yous went out to the skippers, cooks, and community representatives. It made for a long evening, but people need to be acknowledged and gratitude to be given in an honorable way. The drumming and singing made the evening complete.
Traveling from Tofino to Ahousaht to Port Alberni from June 30th to July 8th.
About SCPT Family
- Sunshine Coast Pulling Together Canoe Journey 2011
- 3 canoe families from the Sunshine Coast participated in 2011 PULLING TOGETHER on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. This annual event involves approximately 20 canoe families, or 300 participants, and community members en route. Pulling Together is a unique opportunity for the RCMP, First Nations People, Youth, and other government agencies to work together and build relations. Thank you for visiting our blog. We hope to update the blog regularly until we meet again in Pulling Together 2012. All my relations.
