About SCPT Family

3 canoe families from the Sunshine Coast participated in 2011 PULLING TOGETHER on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. This annual event involves approximately 20 canoe families, or 300 participants, and community members en route. Pulling Together is a unique opportunity for the RCMP, First Nations People, Youth, and other government agencies to work together and build relations. Thank you for visiting our blog. We hope to update the blog regularly until we meet again in Pulling Together 2012. All my relations.

The Talent Show - July 6, 2011

The evening ended at Pacheana Bay with a BIG family circle.  The circle often begins with song and "the work."  The work is the acknowledgments and thank yous to people who have made a difference and helped out to make things happen.  I was fortunate to be asked by the organizer to give blankets to each of those acknowledged.  It was truly an honour.  After the many thank yous to those who took care of our canoes and helped with the cooking, the main event of THE TALENT SHOW occurred.  Members of the Pulling Together Community who had the courage to share their talents with us were all amazing.  The talent ranged from singing, dancing, martial arts, and fire acrobatics.  As the evening moved on, the "lighting" was terrible, so my deepest regrets for having very few pics of this memorable event.
