About SCPT Family

3 canoe families from the Sunshine Coast participated in 2011 PULLING TOGETHER on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. This annual event involves approximately 20 canoe families, or 300 participants, and community members en route. Pulling Together is a unique opportunity for the RCMP, First Nations People, Youth, and other government agencies to work together and build relations. Thank you for visiting our blog. We hope to update the blog regularly until we meet again in Pulling Together 2012. All my relations.

From Bamfield to Pacheana Bay - July 5/6, 2011

We finally made it to shore to quickly gather our gear to catch a bus to have a late salmon dinner at the hall.  It was a long day of waiting.  So thankful to Wes who liven our wait on the water with song and games.  Nonetheless, the evening on shore ended up as an eat-and-go situation.  People were anxious to make it to camp and go to bed without realizing our disrespect for protocol.  The next day it was made known to the fleet, aside from canceling the next day's paddle due to weather, that our behaviour was without exception unacceptable.  We needed to make things right.  To apologize for our behaviour, the PT family invited the locals and elders over for dinner that evening.  Looking for forgiveness, the PT family offered food to our guest that was served by our youth to express our gratitude.  Our feast was bbq hamburgers.  The food was delicious when shared with welcomed company.
