About SCPT Family

3 canoe families from the Sunshine Coast participated in 2011 PULLING TOGETHER on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. This annual event involves approximately 20 canoe families, or 300 participants, and community members en route. Pulling Together is a unique opportunity for the RCMP, First Nations People, Youth, and other government agencies to work together and build relations. Thank you for visiting our blog. We hope to update the blog regularly until we meet again in Pulling Together 2012. All my relations.

Port Alberni - July 8, 2011

Last night it seemed unlikely that we would be heading out on our canoes into Port Alberni for our final protocol.  The winds were shaking the tents around like rag dolls and everyone was were any piece of clean clothes to stay warm.  The skippers met for quite some time to problem solve through the situation.  What will be, will be... The universe looked down at us.  The final day of the Pulling Together Journey was beautiful.  Sunshine with a bit of clouds and there was very little wind.  We were going out!  Yippee.  It was so nice to be back in the water with our canoe.  Although the pull today was brief, we had the opportunity to paddle in a river and greet our host as it was intended.  Crew members were dressed in their uniforms, ancesteral dresswear, or matching shirts.  All participants were given the opportunity to be in the canoe... grounds crew, organizers, and committee members.  It was a sight to see and there were many spectators to great us from Port Alberni to welcome Pulling Together 2011.
